£10m housing development for Bolton town centre

CGI of St George's Row

Plans have been unveiled for a £10m 58-home housing development on a former Bolton car park.

The town centre scheme will be delivered by Birchwood-based Your Housing Group, with local firm Forshaw Construction appointed as contractor.

The St George’s Row development will provide 58 affordable homes, including a mix of two-, three- and four-bed houses available for shared ownership and rent to buy.

The 1.45-acre site is situated on St Georges Road/Bark Street opposite the former St Helena Mill in the town centre.

The location is within walking distance of Queens Park, local schools, shops and amenities, and offers views of the River Croal to the south.

Your Housing Group director of growth, Richard Jones, said: “This development will be a great addition to the town centre – bringing a brownfield site into use, building on a sustainable location and adding to the wider regeneration of the town centre.

“It will provide high quality affordable homes and enable many local people to take their first step on the property ladder with options for shared ownership.”

Your Housing Group acquired the land with planning permission in place.

Planning approval was granted by Bolton Council in December 2021 for the previous landowners.

This development has been part-funded through Your Housing Group’s strategic partnership with Homes England.

Your Housing Group was announced as one of the Government housing agency’s strategic partners in January 2019, receiving £87.5m in funding in line with the Government’s aspiration to provide more affordable new homes across the country.
