£16m residential scheme approved by Sefton Council

Revised plans for Telegraph House

Sefton councillors, on Merseyside, have approved plans for a £16m residential and commercial scheme in Crosby village.

Liverpool-based Virtue Developments, secured planning consent last night (July 27) for its Telegraph House plans, which include three ground floor commercial units, and 72 flats on the upper four floors.

Councillors had turned down two previous proposals for the site, but Virtue Developments now aims to move at pace to deliver its scheme.

An existing building, on Moor Lane, which was a mix of commercial uses and is now unoccupied, will be demolished to make way for the new homes, consisting of 47 one-bedroom units and 25 two bedroom units.

The proposals will see enhanced private amenity space for residents and a rooftop garden.

It is anticipated that the equivalent of 57 full-time jobs will be created during the construction phase, and the commercial development could support between 39 and 52 jobs.

Dave Ayem, Virtue Developments managing director, said: “After two years of hard work, it’s fantastic to finally achieve planning approval for the scheme, and we plan to make a start on site before the end of the year.

“We have completed several other residential schemes across the city region and are really looking forward to making a big improvement to Crosby town centre.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter for Virtue Developments and we cannot wait to get started.”
