Salford Van Hire has invested more than £1.4m in expanding its rental offering to customers with the addition of 35 new Ford Transits to its fleet.

The order was placed in June 2021, but due to world shortages of parts and components, the vehicles have taken more than 12 months to come on-stream.

SVH managing director, Alessandro Bacci, said: “Whilst understanding the difficulties manufacturers are facing due to component shortages and COVID staff absences, delays in deliveries of new vehicles have made life difficult for rental companies like ourselves.

“In fact, we have orders with other manufacturers placed in January last year which have still not been fulfilled.

“To that extent we would like to thank Ford and Chris Jones at Bristol Street Motors for their efforts in bringing these Transits to us in relatively reasonable time.”

The 35 Transit 2022 00 models have a stripped low floor chassis cab, dualseat pack with Truckcraft low floor Luton bodies, a GCM of 2,393kg and 1,107kg payload.

Twenty vehicles were sign written by Robinson Signs and will be available for short and long term hire.

The remaining 15 Transits, with no livery, will be going out on contract hire.

Alessandro Bacci added: “The Transit has been an integral and trusted part of the SVH fleet for many years and continues to be so. Tried, tested reliable and popular with customers, it is a fixture in the SVH rental fleet.”
