Princes Dock estate welcomes new Sainsbury’s Local store
Supermarket chain, Sainsbury’s, has opened a new ‘local’ store within Princes Dock, on Liverpool Waters, today (March 28) creating 20 jobs.
The new store will support the growing number of businesses and residents based within Peel Waters’ vibrant waterfront district.
Located in a ground floor unit beneath the 760-space multi-storey car park, the new 5,748 sq ft Sainsbury’s Local store on William Jessop Way, looks out on to Princes Dock and will feature several convenient amenities including a cash machine, in-store bakery, and Argos collection point.
With more than 2,000 residents now living at Liverpool Waters, as well as hundreds of workers and a year-round events programme, the new store will provide another convenient facility for the local community.
The new store was granted planning permission by Liverpool City Council last year and was previously occupied by Bean Café and Holyrood Nursery.
Both businesses have remained open, with Bean Café recently completing a high-spec fit-out of their new coffee house and deli following their move into the adjacent unit.
The new store opening follows a series of exciting announcements for Princes Dock, which is set to become the home of the UK’s first Nordic-style public floating sauna, as well as being the location of the swim/run knockout event ‘The Eliminator’ which will take place at Princes Dock on May 18.
Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said: “We’re excited to welcome customers to try out our new store for the first time this week.”
Liza Marco, Senior Asset Manager at Liverpool Waters, said: “Following huge growth at Princes Dock in recent months, and an increasing number of visitors to the neighbourhood, it’s great to see Sainsbury’s joining the large number of businesses now based here.”
Liverpool Waters is part of Peel Waters, a UK-wide portfolio of waterfront developments, delivering large scale, sustainable regeneration projects, creating jobs, economic growth, new homes and new public realm across the country.
