Cheshire property developer behind Woodford studio plan

BAE Systems is understood to have sold its Woodford site near Stockport, Cheshire, to a property developer who is looking to convert it into film studios.
Harry Harvey, who previously owned Hough Hall Investments in Bollington, near Macclesfield, is the sole director of Woodford Film Studios Ltd – a company set up last month that is already promoting the site as a film location.
An advertisement on the website of digital & creative sector body North West Vision & Media is offering use of the 500 acre site as a filming location.
It has three hangars totalling 118,000 sq ft of space which can be used as studio facilities, a 7-bedroom hotel, a 2,000 metre-long runway and a nine-hole golf course.
A spokeswoman for BAE Systems confirmed that it had accepted an offer for the Woodford site.
“We are in negotiation for the sale of the site,” she said. “We will give out more information once the sale of the site is concluded.”
TheBusinessDesk. com understands that other bidders were understood to have expressed interest in the site, including excavator manufacturer JCB, which was interested in the on-site runway. Prestige motor dealer Ron Stratton is also understood to have been interested in building a showroom and demonstration facility there.
