Planning submitted for Ordsall Travelodge

DEVELOPER LPC Living has submitted plans to build a new hotel in Ordsall, having agreed terms with budget hotel operator Travelodge.
The 156-bed hotel is the latest signing for Radclyffe Park, a mixed-used retail and residential development on Trafford Road, and the latest milestone in the £150m regeneration of the area.
Salford-based LPC has re-planned the residential part of an approved scheme in response to market conditions.
This second application will replace an approved eight-storey block of apartments with a 156 bed, seven storey hotel. The total number of residential units is reduced to 114.
Planning consent has already been granted for a Morrisons supermarket, 25,000 sq ft of additional retail and 282 new homes on the site.
Simon Ashdown, development director at LPC Living, said: “We have to be responsive to the changing market and building a high number of apartments does not make commercial sense at present.
“LPC Living is committed to the long term viability and sustainability of Ordsall, this includes a balanced mix of living accommodation combined with investment in infrastructure, amenities and the facilitation of job creation.
“The addition of a hotel will ensure the continued momentum of Ordsall’s regeneration and create a further 50 jobs on top of the 460 already announced. Attracting Travelodge to Ordsall is a real coup for the area, and demonstrates its future potential as an ideal place to invest, work and live.”
