Planning news: Developer re-submits plans for Apollo hotel; and more

A DEVELOPER has applied to extend planning permission for an eight-storey scheme on a site next to the Carling Apollo concert venue for a 111-bed hotel.
The developer, Mr Saad Alazzawi of Saco Homes, initially gained approval to build the hotel on the site three years ago, but now work has started on the site at Stockport Road. The application includes parking for 51 cars at ground and basement level, new vehicle access points into the site and a taxi drop-off point. A decision is expected to be made by the end of April.

PEEL Investments (North) has applied to extend planning permission to build 300 new apartments and an office block at Erie Basin in Salford Quays. A decision will be made by a planning committee at Salford City Council tomorrow on whether to extend planning permission for another three years on a part 13, part 18 and part 23-storey tower on land at Harbour City close to the existing NV Buildings and the Victoria office building.
In a separate application, it is also looking to extend permission to build a 10/11-storey office building on land which currently serves as a marketing suite for the nearby Millennium Estates scheme, which has been sold off by administrators Zolfo Cooper to Elan Homes.
Council officers are recommending that both developments should be approved subject to certain conditions – one of which is that the apartments should be completed to a BREEAM “Very Good” or “Excellent” rating, while the office building needs to be completed to an “Excellent” standard.

The company, which is owned by Kate Livesey, has submitted an application to build 122 student rooms in 22 clusters, 18 self-contained student flats and a shop at ground floor level to Liverpool City Council.
The firm had previously been granted permission to build 51 apartments and 26 parking spaces and a landscaped courtyard on the site three years ago, but permission for that project recently expired.
