Oddfellows reopens this month

ODDFELLOWS in Chester is set to reopen this month following a multi-million pound redevelopment which will see 14 extra bedrooms and a new restaurant concept added.

The Grade II-listed building will now be run by the same management team as the Chester Grosvenor under a 10-year management agreement.

Chester Grosvenor’s managing director Jonathan Slater, finance director Fiona McBurnie and Simon Radley are part of the management team who will work with the Oddfellows’ owners.

The redesign has been taking place over a six-month period during which it has continued to trade, but a three-week closure has now been undertaken to finish the work.

When it reopens, the building will contain an aircraft wing, a giant urban fox and a potting shed bar.

The replica of a Valkyrie bomber aircraft wing will be used as a reception desk, while 6ft tall woodland animals will be used as murals in the bar.

A spokeswoman for Oddfellows said: “Oddfellows has always reveled in being quirky and unique and that ‘one off’-ness has been enhanced in the revamp.

“People who love Oddfellows will find new things to fall in love with and we hope that the new ‘secret garden’ and restaurant concept will draw new customers in.

“This is an exciting new chapter in the Oddfellows story and a vote of confidence in Chester.”
