Polymorph on track for 30% growth

POLYMORPH an IT business formed 12 years ago is in growth mode after winning a range of contracts with major organisations such as the Royal Mint.
Debt free and and reporting a 34% rise in revenues to £3.5m last year and a 50% increase in profits, the Runcorn company is seeing surging demand from businesses using networks using smartphones and tablets.
Polymorph was founded by managing director Steve Harris who was working in IT at ICI’s former head office in Runcorn, and who spotted an opportunity to support businesses leaving ICI – as many were at that time.
He relates: “Polymorph’s first clients were former ICI units that were sold off, or ex ICI people who set up on their own.”
As a result of its background, unusually for a North West SME, Polymorph has clients as far afield as Australia, the US and Canada.
It now has 40 staff and is on track to grow revenues by 30% again this year as clients switch to cloud computing, or as in the case of dental group Practice Plan, switch to new faster and more effiicient email systems.
Mr Harris says: “We’re all about growth – and it has been organic growth without debt, Our big challenge is finding enough good quality people to join us.”
The company works with a range of SMEs and also larger organisations – it has recently won a two-year software development project for Manchester Airports Group.
Earlier this year it helped The Royal Mint upgrade its email system, without disruption at a particularly critical time – as the Mint was making and delivering all the medals for the 2012 Olympics.
