Law firm Asons takes more space for corporate arm

AMBITIOUS North West law firm Asons Solicitors has taken more office space at its Bolton base ahead of move into business law.
The firm, which has hitherto been focused on personal injury and clinical negligence, has taken an additional 3,000sq ft on the ground floor at 120 Bark St as it begins recruiting for 140 staff in litigation and corporate services.
Currently employing 160 people, the firm, which agreed a funding deal with HSBC last year, has made a strong start to 2013, with profitability 16% ahead of forecast, according to founder and chief executive Imran Akram.
Mr Akram, said: “This is a big move for us. As many business owners will know, the legal landscape is changing drastically in a way that will see many smaller law firms close their doors.
“Yet, with some forward planning, we’ve been able to develop a business model that will brave the legal reforms and see us come out on top.”
He said the acquisition of the third floor at the building was part of a process of “putting the foundations in place” for the launch of the corporate division on May 1.
Other developments include a new corporate website which is mobile enabled heavy investment in digital marketing.
Mr Akram added: “Following last year’s funding deal with the HSBC, we will be recruiting heavily in corporate service areas once we’ve finished setting up the department – we hope that this will provide a lot of opportunity for up and coming legal talent.”
