Property briefs: £1.5m for Salford housing scheme, and more

THE Homes and Communities Agency has supported a Salford housing scheme with a £1.5m grant.
City West Housing Trust is building 78 houses on a 13.2-acre brownfield site at Amblecote Drive, Little Hulton.
The £14m scheme is being built by Dukinfield-based Bardsley Construction. The HCA finance has come from 2011-15 Affordable Homes Programme.
Colette McKune, deputy chief executive of City West Housing Trust, said: “The new homes at Amblecote Green will provide a lifeline for dozens of families on housing waiting lists. We’re thrilled that work is underway and we are looking forward to welcoming the first residents later this year.”

CONSTRUCTION services firm ISG has taken a 1,000 sq ft office on a 10-year lease at Peel Group’s No. 12 Princes Dock in Liverpool.
ISG, which has won the job to manage the construction of a new £40m hotel and exhibition centre on the city’s waterfront, is moving from an existing base at Bruntwood’s Plaza building on Old Hall Street.
The company delivers fit out, construction and a range of specialist services, working across a number of sectors including education, health, hospitality and leisure.
North West managing director Jim Parker said: “ISG has forged a strong partnership with Peel and, as result of this relationship, we understand the ethos and quality of commercial office accommodation within the Peel portfolio and are delighted to relocate our expanding Liverpool business to this premier location.”

BALFOUR Beatty is selling a 2.5-acre residential development site in Whiston, Merseyside.
The former quarry has has planning consent for 43 homes, including a mix of three and four-bed detached and semi-detached houses, four townhouses and six apartments. The site is close to Whiston Hospital and near the Cables Retail Park.
Matthews & Goodman has been hired to market the land. David Colvin said: “The housing market in Whiston and Prescot has always been resilient due to the quality of the environment, excellent motorway access, the close proximity of local services, shops and leisure opportunities.”

PLANS to build a new education facility for Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College have this week been approved by Liverpool City Council.
The school will relocate from its current site on Cedar Road, Walton, to a £17m purpose-built facility on a brown-field site in Long Lane, Fazakerley.
The new facility has been designed by architects Sheppard Robson. Work will start on-site in May, and the school will open in time for the start of the academic year in September 2014. Wilmott Dixon is the main contractor for the project.

THE Manchester office of Colliers International has been hired to sell one of the few remaining family-owned hotels in Llandudno.
The 59-bedroom Victorian hotel has been owned by the Payne family since being created from five Victorian townhouses in the 1920s by Jack Payne.
Agents are seeking offers of around £1.2m. Turnover for the year to the end of October was £912,785.
Mr Payne operated other Llandudno businesses including The Winter Gardens Ballroom and Payne’s Cafe Royal. His son Charles Payne passed the hotel to his daughter and current operator Gwenda McDonald who is retiring.
