Laytons advises on £90m Finance Yorkshire fund

THE MANCHESTER office of law firm Laytons has advised on the creation of the new £90m Finance Yorkshire fund – a new venture capital fund for the Yorkshire region.

It will now advise the three fund managers assigned to run different elements of the fund – NorthStar Equity Investors, EV and FSY. The £90m has has come from two public sources £45m from the European Regional Development Fund and regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and £45m from the European Investment Bank.

David Sefton, joint managing partner of Laytons’ Manchester office, said: “We are very pleased, particularly for our clients, to have got the fund away after having worked on the project for nearly a year.

“There were a few complications with the change in government and great credit has to go to everyone involved for their persistence and hard work in making sure this happened.”

In June, The North West Regional Development Agency announced the launch of a new £185 fund for the North West, which is being run by four separate fund managers.
