Fazenda to take Brazilian concept to Liverpool

THE company behind Leeds-based Brazilian restaurant Fazenda is to invest £2m on a branch in Liverpool.

City District has taken 8,240 sq ft at Exchange Flags where it hopes to open in October creating 50 jobs.

Fazenda Liverpool will be a 190-seat restaurant with a bar and an outside area.

City District, which is owned by Robert Melman, Jonathan Drake and Huddersfield-based LLB Investments, is also planning future openings in Manchester and Birmingham.

Fazenda, managed by Argentines Robert Melman and Tomas Maunier, specialises in traditional “gaucho” style to cook large pieces of meat over a traditional Brazilian grill.

Mr Maunier said: “Liverpool offers three things that are attractive to restaurateurs considering opening a venture in the city; a booming night-time economy, a significant volume of tourists and a people with a passion for eating out.”
