MMU’s Elizabeth Gaskell campus up for grabs

PROPERTY agent DTZ has started marketing Manchester Metropolitan University’s Elizabeth Gaskell Campus in Victoria Park, Manchester.
The site on Hathersage Road covers 5.4 acres close to the Manchester Royal Infirmary and has six buildings which are occupied by the university’s faculty of health, psychology and social care.
The department will be moving in September to MMU’s new Birley Fields campus in Hulme.
MMU is consolidating its operations from seven campuses to two – around Oxford Road and at the new Birley Fields. DTZ is handling the disposal of the surplus sites which also include Didsbury, the Aytoun St campus in Manchester city centre, the and the Hollings site in Fallowfield, as well as much of the university’s site at Alsager, Cheshire.
DTZ director Chris Lloyd said: “We anticipate strong interest from uses as diverse as residential, health and the education sectors. It is rare that a site of this size and profile comes to the market in this location and we anticipate interest from a range of developers and potentially owner occupiers.”
The deadline for offers is 12pm on January 24.
