Former seamen’s refuge up for sale

CUMBRIAN consortium JCC Building Services has put the Grade II Listed Chancery House in Liverpool – once a refuge for seafarers – up for sale for a so-far undisclosed price.
City Residential has been appointed as the sole selling agent when the conversion of the building on Paradise Street between Liverpool One and the Baltic triangle is complete.
Its transformation into 37 apartments has received planning approval and City Residential director Phil Hartley-Chambers is predicting much interest.
The conversion will also incorporate an extension on the existing car park as well as a roof top addition for some of the penthouse apartments.
“We have been working with our clients for the last 12 months to assist in creating a truly spectacular scheme and we expect levels of interest to be high in this unique offering,” said Hartley-Chambers.
Chancery House was built in 1899 for the Gordon Smith Institute for Seamen Charity, which provided help to seafarers who had fallen on hard times, and played a historic role in Liverpool’s maritime past.
