Pure Gym weighs in with 25 jobs

A NEW 24-hour gym will muscle its way into a shopping mall in Manchester, creating 25 jobs.

Gym chain Pure Gym will be opening this Spring at Stretford Mall and says it has already signed up new members keen to shed extra festive pounds and get in shape any time of night or day.

The news of its imminent arrival comes just two months after the reopening discount department store TJ Hughes at Stretford Mall which created 40 new jobs.

Pure Gym manager Richard Corbishley has been heading up the management suite unit on site at Stretford Mall and said he had seen a huge take up in the gym’s introductory membership offers.

He said: “We haven’t got a definite launch date yet but it will be around Spring time. Once we open the doors that will be it – 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.”

The gym will take over a two-floor space at Stretford Mall, in the former Argos unit and what was Riley’s snooker hall, with 220 pieces of top of the range equipment and the latest cutting edge classes on offer.

Mr Corbishley said: “We’re looking at taking on about 25 people. That’s everyone from Level Three personal trainers through to night-time contract cleaners. The company did a lot of research on the area and the Stretford Mall site is perfect.

“We had a lot of feedback that this was wanted here. People were keen to get fit but had to travel too far to go and do so.”
