£4.4m Victora Park revamp is under way

THE £4.4m transformation of sports facilities at Warrington’s Victoria Park into a new community hub has kicked off.
The flagship 67-acre site is a key part of the Warrington Means Business scheme to make outdoor sport more accessible to groups in the area and is due for completion in autumn.
Work at Victoria Park will comprise a new 300-seat sports stand which will include viewing areas, changing rooms, kitchens and a community room.
A new competition standard floodlit ruby and football pitch, fenced to ensure security will also provided.
There will be improvements to existing pitches to enhance water drainage and upgrading of car parking facilities.
The arena will be used by Warrington Wolves for junior and non-Super League games. Latchford Albion will also use the ground.
The development scheme is being overseen by Warrington & Co., Warrington’s partnership for growth.
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “Warrington Borough Council’s vision is to transform Victoria Park into a dedicated “Sports Hub” and to making it Warrington’s key sporting, leisure and community events location for the whole region and a showcase for the quality of life that Warrington enjoys.”
