CREATIVE studio NoChintz has finished an exclusive backstage bar at the Manchester Arena on behalf of client, SMG.
The Manchester design team was responsible for the bar, ‘Plus One’s’ identity, interior design and branding.
NoChintz was tasked with transforming the 1,000 sq ft space, which seats 88 covers and has additional space for up to 40 people standing.
The design team took inspiration from various musical and stage references and brought it into the space through the use of studio style lighting and bespoke microphone installations.
NoChintz drew bespoke graphics based on scientific vibration patterns that were printed directly to the tabletops.
Song lyrics from prominent Manchester bands were hand illustrated and scanned before being applied directly to internal walls, whilst an arena crowd scene was made into a feature in the bathrooms. Furniture was inspired by the stage setting using drum stools and upholstered flight cases as seating though the space.

SKV Communications has been appointed by the 5-star The Lowry Hotel on the Manchester/Salford boundary to provide a comprehensive PR campaign – reuniting the agency 14 years after the agency originally launched the hotel.
SKV will provide a tailored PR programme spanning corporate, business-to-business and consumer media to further heighten the profile and reputation of The Lowry Hotel.
The appointment of SKV also marks something of a reunion for Managing Director Andy Spinoza with Adrian Ellis, the newly-appointed General Manager of The Lowry Hotel.
Ellis, 51, is returning to Manchester for the first time since he was general manager of the Victoria and Albert Hotel from 1994 to 1999, (later Manchester Marriott V&A), when Spinioza was a celebrity journalist in Manchester.
Since then Ellis has enjoyed a successful career managing prestige hotels worldwide, with 24 years’ experience of managing luxury international properties in the UK, Europe and Asia.
