American dream for Stockyard owner

THE owner of an American-themed bar and restaurant in south Manchester which launched recently following a £400,000 renovation is celebrating a significant funding deal.

Dominic Clancy, 27, opened the Stockyard restaurant in Hale after the success of his first venture, Morley Cheeks, in Chorlton two years ago.

The new craft beer bar and barbecue restaurant in his home town has been made possible by a funding facility from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

The deal, brokered by Santander relationship director Luke Rowbotham, enabled a complete renovation of the site (previously known as Amba), creating an outlet that now has a 64-seat restaurant and a separate bar area.

Clancy said: “I am grateful to Santander for allowing me to achieve a personal dream. After discussions with other banks I chose to work with Santander and Luke Rowbotham because of their belief in my expansion plans.”

Clancy is the son of Aiden Clancy, owner of Hale Leisure, who is well known in Manchester for operating several high-profile bars in the city such as Barca, Jabez Clegg and Dry Bar.

Rowbotham said: “I’m confident that the Stockyard will be a great local success story and we are delighted to provide funding to support a local entrepreneur and enable the growth of an exciting new business.”
