Manchester’s Flatiron to become hotel

SUPER budget hotel group easyHotel has acquired Victorian building Bradley House, known as The Flatiron, in central Manchester ahead of its £6m into a 114-bedroom facility.

The building, planned to open in summer 2016, is at the junction of Dale Street and Newton Street in the city’s increasingly popular Northern Quarter.

This follows easyHotel’s first venture into the North West two months ago when it acquired a freehold office and restaurant in Liverpool to carry out a £3m conversion into a 68-bedroom hotel.

Chief executive Simon Champion said: “Following so soon after our recent success in securing premises to develop an easyHotel in Liverpool, we are delighted to be investing in another vibrant city.

“Manchester has substantial international tourism, good economic growth potential, a large population and successful, internationally-renowned universities.

“We expect this new easyHotel to attract a variety of leisure and business customers looking for good quality accommodation at an affordable price and look forward to being a part of the city’s ongoing success.”
