Bird of time on the wing at Salford Central

BUILDING work has begun on the latest phase of the Salford Central regeneration project, a residential scheme called Timekeepers Square.

Preston-based John Turner Construction is delivering the 36-home townhouse development, designed by Buttress Architects in a Georgian-style, available for purchase in 2016.

Timekeepers Square takes its name from its proximity to a number of clock faces, including those at St Philip’s Church.

The Salford Central regeneration scheme has already delivered a new hotel, multi-storey car park, a 125,000 sq ft office building – One New Bailey, under construction and due to be completed next May and the Vimto Gardens mixed use development on Chapel Street.

The 44-acre regeneration scheme is being delivered by English Cities Fund (ECf) – a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General and the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) – in partnership with Salford City Council.

Phil Mayall, development director at ECf, said: “Vimto Gardens sold out entirely off-plan after it was launched last July and there was a huge demand for the 14 townhouses within the development. Timekeepers Square will offer a mixture of two, three and four-bedroomed townhouses with gardens and parking – a hugely desirable entity in city centre living.”
