Aurora set to be a northern light

BOLTON-based builder and developer Seddon has celebrated the beginning of work on Aurora, Stockport’s newest industrial park, at a ground breaking ceremony.

The event was attended by representatives from Stockport Council and led by Cllr Kate Butler, Seddon Construction and CBRE.

The project will see Seddon transform the 18-acre site into a modern 145,000sq ft industrial park.

Cllr Kate Butler, executive member for regeneration and economy at Stockport Council, said: “The opportunities that this work will bring not only for businesses but for local residents too are significant, and I am excited to think about how the transformation and our work will benefit so many.”

Sitting alongside Junction 1 of the M60, Aurora Stockport will breathe new life into an area that has sat derelict over recent years, redeveloping the area and creating opportunities for local businesses and an estimated 240 jobs locally.

Part of a £1bn Investing in Stockport growth scheme, the £12m development comes at a time when demand for industrial units locally continues to increase due to the town’s exceptional workforce and connectivity.

Interest from local occupiers in Aurora Stockport is already high. Comprising 10 industrial units ranging from 8,700sq ft to 47,000sq ft, the park’s location and facilities make it ideal for any business looking to expand.

Ed Wootton, North West regional director for Seddon, said “Stockport is in the midst of an exciting period of growth and Seddon are thrilled to be a part of it.  We will be working closely with our local supply chain partners to create jobs and training opportunities during the project, building on our long established approach to employing apprentices.”

Steve Capper of CBRE said: “The strength of the Stockport industrial market has been clearly demonstrated by the high levels of demand that we are already receiving, with terms now being discussed with several occupiers.

“Together with the excellent quality of the estate and the prime location I would fully expect this interest to increase as the works progress.”
