Revolution to open three more bars

REVOLUTION Bars Group has said it is to open three new sites as turnover increases 7% to £119.5m.

The Ashton-under-Lyne company operates 62 premium bars across the UK, 53 trading under the Revolution brand and nine under the Revolución de Cuba format.

It  has just exchanged contracts, with full licensing and planning consents, on three new sites sites in Harrogate, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Total sales for the year to the end of June increased to £119.5m (2015: £111.8m), while like-for-like sales rose by 2.3%, refelcting the sales contribution from the new sites opened during the year.

New Revolución de Cuba bars at Milton Keynes, Nottingham and Leeds, all of which were opened in the first half, were followed by a new Revolution in Stafford and a Revolución de Cuba bar in Liverpool’s Albert Dock, late in the second half.

Chief executive Mark McQuater said he was particularly pleased with the performance of the newly opened bars, all of which are trading ahead of the group’s pre-investment expectations.

He added: “We continue to make progress in developing our new site pipeline and look forward to opening a new Revolución de Cuba bar in Reading in the autumn.”
