39-bed care home up for sale

A LARGE care home in Preston dating back to 1880 has been put up for sale with an undisclosed guide price.

The Jean Jugan Residence in Fulwood is being marketed by CBRE’s Manchester specialist markets team which has been instructed by the Little Sisters of the Poor convent.

It has 39 bedrooms and 15 staff bedrooms, a chapel, doctor’s surgery, common areas, tea room and a conservatory.

Five outbuildings incorporating a gate house and former stables provide added residential accommodation.

The building is surrounded by landscaped gardens on a four-acre site accessed off Garstang Road in Fulwood, 1.5 miles from the centre of Preston.

The property presents an opportunity for either an operator to acquire a fully operational care home or to undertake substantial redevelopment of the site to provide a new care facility or alternative uses including residential, retirement village or an assisted living scheme.

Senior director of specialist markets at CBRE Manchester, Shaun Skidmore, said: “This 19th century property is a truly unique offering for the market and presents a number of opportunities to ensure its long-term sustainability.

“We are looking forward to speaking with interested parties and working with our client to ensure the best outcome for this special development.”
