5 things to do in the North West this weekend

Oktoberfest gets going…
Albert Schloss in Manchester is kicking off the Oktoberfest celebrations this weekend by hosting its own festival at the heart of the city’s food and drink festival. The event, which will run until 9th October, will include a whole range of limited edition beers that will be supported by a specialist sausage menu which has been designed to compliment the beers available. Ghost Street
Unity Theatre in Liverpool will play host to Ghost Street this weekend. The play follows a story of a family in a time where the UK’s government scheme for housing has meant ripping terraced houses down in Liverpool and kicking out it’s tenants. It is in the city where the government meets its match though with Maureen who has grown up on the streets and nobody will make her move. Find out more here.
Roald Dahl arts and crafts
The pop-up artisan fair will return to Chester this weekend and with it they bring a day of fun dedicated to Roald Dahl himself. There will be handmade gifts, art, jewellery and fresh produce to discover as well as gourmet delicacies and street food to enjoy. Alongside live music acts, there will be chocolate making workshops, Roald Dahl inspired arts and crafts and storytelling for the whole gang to get involved in. Find out more here.
Comedy Festival kicks off…
The Liverpool Comedy Festival returns this weekend for its 14th year. The festival, which will take place in venues across the city until 2nd October, will play host to come of the top comedians from the UK as well as some of the very best Scouse talent. Head along to see the talent for yourself at everywhere from Camp and Furnace and St Georges Hall to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and the Epstein Theatre. Find out more here.
Tale of 2 cities
Head along to an exhibition this weekend at Manchester Museum to find out more about two of the UKs best cities: Manchester and Liverpool. The exhibition is England’s Grow Wild Flagship project based in the two cities.
