Green Quarter scheme for 192 apartments gets go ahead

A SCHEME for 192 managed apartments in Manchester’s Green Quarter has been approved by Manchester City Council.

Plans for No 1 Lord Street, submitted by HOW Planning on behalf of Stockport-based Anglesource also include nearly 2,000sq ft of ground floor retail space to be leased to an independent trader.

James Berggren, senior planner at HOW Planning said: “The approved scheme will create a gateway building on Cheetham Hill Road, delivering high quality residential accommodation in this city centre location, which will contribute to the on-going regeneration of the area.

“We will now work closely with the council to discharge the planning conditions.”

The scheme, which has been designed by architects Leach Rhodes Walker, is on the corner of Lord Street and Cheetham Hill Road and will transform a partially vacant piece of land within the North Manchester Regeneration Area on what is a major route into the city centre.

Christian Gilham, managing director at Leach Rhodes Walker, said “We are delighted to have worked with Manchester City Council to create an outstanding scheme, of true quality, and which reinforces our position as one of the leading PRS residential practices in the region.”

The new residential scheme will offer a mix of one, two and three-bed apartments, with one four bed also available.
