Neville set to launch first Mahiki Nightclub in city

EX-MANCHESTER United star-turned-property-mogul Gary Neville has signed a 20-year lease on a building in the historic Albert Estate with plans to launch Manchester’s first Mahiki Nightclub.

The estate is owned by private wealth partnership and active property investor LJ Partnership which has to date invested more than £40m, building a 170,000sq ft property portfolio in Manchester.

The news comes as many big brands including creative and technology companies, businesses, restaurants and now nightclubs expand their operations from London into Manchester.

Neville has signed the lease on a 4,437sq ft space based at 1 Central Street.  It is part of the unique 100,000sq ft cluster of buildings that make up ‘The Albert Estate’. This includes Canada House which it acquired in October.

A total of £28m has been invested in the scheme by the landlord, LJ Partnership, with the aim of creating a dynamic home for businesses and leisure venues in Manchester.

Mahiki Manchester will add to Neville’s growing business portfolio in the city, which includes Hotel Football, directly opposite Old Trafford and plans for St Michael’s, a transformational mixed-use development in the heart of the city, which will generate more than 1,300 new jobs.

Neville said: “Mahiki already has fantastic venues in London and Dubai and  we are delighted to bring a club of this caliber to Manchester, in a great location such as the Albert Estate.”

Neville said the high-profile club will feature Mahiki’s staple tiki décor , signature cocktails and bring a little piece of “paradise” to the heart of Manchester.

Sam Lawson Johnston, director of Real Estate at LJ Partnership, said: “We are passionate about creating modern, dynamic work places that inspire people, improve communities and help businesses to thrive.

“As well as hosting a strong business community, Manchester also boasts a buzzing night-life and it is only natural that a world-famous night-club such as Mahiki would choose to open its third venue here.

“It is a great endorsement that Gary has decided to take the space in the Estate and we very much look forward to seeing what he and the Mahiki team create.”
