Interior design firm donates furniture to homeless charity

Bristol-based interior design studio Andrew Henry Interiors has donated a number of luxury furniture items to Emmaus Bristol.

The donated items – from sofas and dining chairs to antique lamps – will help to provide an income into Emmaus Bristol by being sold in one of their retail or online shops.

Emmaus is part of the wider international Emmaus movement, and is a charity dedicated to helping people with lived-experience of homelessness, providing a lifeline to help them out of poverty. The Bristol hub offers support, training and work experience for up to 30 formerly homeless men and women in the city, as well as offering family homes and a shared community house, with furniture included for those in need of housing.

The donation from Andrew Henry Interiors includes a selection of large furniture items and soft furnishings that will help the charity to generate vital funds to continue their work.

This includes large items such as a velvet buttoned two seater sofa, two wooden dressing tables, white tall boy chest of drawers and four blush pink dining chairs as well as smaller furnishings including an antique brass-finish table lamp, bedside drawers and a black floor lamp. These high quality goods are sorted, checked for necessary fire labels and then sold through one of Emmaus’ retail or online shops, helping to generate funds to help Emmaus continue their fantastic work.

Malcolm Chard, warehouse and logistics co-ordinator at Emmaus Bristol, said: “We were thrilled with the recent donation from Andrew Henry Interiors. High-quality donated goods like these are sorted, checked for the necessary fire labels and then sold through one of our retail or online shops.  The funds generated by each donation help Emmaus Bristol to provide a warm, safe home with 1-2-1 support and meaningful work in a social enterprise for individuals with experience of homelessness. Regular donations of goods that we can sell mean that we can continue to run social enterprises, providing a sense of purpose and structure to the day for those we support, by generating vital income.”

Andrew Henry, founder of Andrew Henry Interiors, added: “Although we work in various locations around the country, helping the community that surrounds our main base in Bristol is something that is important to us at AHI. Realistically, everyone is just one paycheque away from needing to use Emmaus’ facilities, so we need to make sure we support these crucial charities to ensure the most vulnerable people in our community get the help that they so desperately need. We hope our donation will raise money to help Emmaus Bristol continue their incredible work.”

Andrew Henry Interiors is one of the leading interior design studios primarily for housing developers across the UK. Along with this B2B side of the business, the company’s subsidiary Luxe by AHI offers a bespoke service for private clients, which embraces a higher level of luxury design.
