Trio of new partners appointed at Bristol law firm

Three new partners are among 16 colleagues celebrating new roles at Bevan Brittan in Bristol, following a record round of promotions for the law firm.

In all, 38 colleagues have been promoted in the business, with five new partners created across its four UK offices along with a new legal director, 13 new senior associates and 19 associates.

The trio of new partners at its Bristol office on Queen Street are litigation, advisory and regulatory expert Claire Jones, health and care specialist Claire Leonard and property expert Kate Hicks.

Another member of the litigation, advisory and regulatory team, Adrian Neale, also becomes a legal director.

Six new senior associates have also been created in Bristol, while half a dozen more people in the region have become associates

New senior associates include three specialists from the employment, pensions and immigration team in the city, with Angharad Aspinall, Ruth Le Page and Sarah Wimsett all recognised.

They are joined by health and care lawyers Alison Garrett and James Williams, as well as property expert Shellby Hodge-Payne.

The new associates include a duo from its health and care team – Ellen Lloyd and Louise Taylor. They are joined by litigation, advisory and regulatory lawyers Katie Harris and Victoria Croshaw, employment, pensions and immigration specialist Melodie Thompson and Portia Davis from the commercial and infrastructure team.

This latest positive news comes after a 12-month period in which Bevan Brittan also recruited 32 new senior hires, eight of them in Bristol, to meet growing demand for its services.

The promotions were welcomed by David Hobbs, Partner and Head of Bevan Brittan’s Bristol office, who said the news was a sign of firm-wide success as the business continues to expand into new markets and rapidly-developing areas of law.

“Every single one of our successful colleagues has played a major role in our growth and in meeting the increasing demand for our advice on a broad range of issues,” he said.

“Building on a decade of consistent growth, we continue to go from strength to strength. This year’s promotions reflect both the breadth and depth of the expertise and experience within our business, as well as our commitment to equality and the value we place on diversity. Following this round of promotions, 52% of our Partners are women. Because we know that diversity enriches our business, we will continue supporting talented people to succeed.”

David added: “This year, we have also welcomed 32 senior lateral hires into our business, eight of them here in Bristol. This is testament to the reputation we have for the work we do and the clients we act for. Our new joiners also tell us that they value the career development support and hybrid working environment we provide to enable them to balance their lives.”

News of the promotions comes just days after Bevan Brittan announced its latest senior hire in the fast-moving area of information and privacy law, with Vicki Bowles joining as a partner in Bristol.

The firm has also moved into new offices in Birmingham in the past 12 months to house its expanding Midlands operation and announced that its Leeds team has grown to more than 100 employees. It recorded its tenth consecutive year of revenue and profit growth in 2022/23 and retains a positive outlook for its 2023/24 financial results.
