Cornwall retail park to receive £600,000 grant

A retail and industrial park in Cornwall is  to receive a £600,000 investment from a growth fund to house more businesses.

Chenoweths Business Park on the Roseland Peninsula is planning a £1.2m expansion that will see the creation of eight new commercial units.

Julian Chenoweth said the investment from the Good Growth fund had been vital to the project.

The fund is managed by Cornwall Council with money coming from the government.

Mr Chenoweth provides informal mentoring support to start-ups and entrepreneurs on the business park.

He  said: “We estimate the new units could support up to 50 local jobs and they are designed to be carbon net zero, with ground source heat pumps, solar panels and secondary aggregates.

“We’ll also have charging points for electric vehicles, which tend to be in short supply in rural areas.”

Louis Gardner, portfolio holder for economy, the extension would meet demand in the area for high quality, affordable workspace.
