£21m Marks & Spencer store to open in Bristol city centre

Marks & Spencer are set to return to the centre of Bristol following a gap of two years.

The retailer is to take over the key store in the Cabot Circus shopping centre from the House of Fraser.

M&S, which closed its store on Brodmead in 2022, is to invest £21m in its new store.

The new 80,000sq ft shop which will sell food, clothes and beauty across three floors. The flagship store is expected to create around 150 jobs.

Chief executive of M&S Stuart Machin said: “It is brilliant to be announcing our return to Bristol city centre today.

“At Cabot Circus, we’re able to create a flagship store which delivers the best possible shopping experience for customers and showcases the very best of M&S.

“Our store rotation programme is all about ensuring we have the right stores in the right place and with the right space to excite and inspire our customers, including in city centres.

“This £21m investment will allow us to do just that while expanding our footprint across the South West.”

House of Fraser has been at Cabot Circus since the shopping centre opened in 2008.
