Iconic Cornish hotel has been snapped up by private investor group

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has announced the sale of one of Cornwall’s most iconic clifftop hotels to a private investor group.

Perched along the South West Coastal Path and boasting sweeping sea views over the Gerrans Bay Driftwood is a highly regarded boutique hotel.

The New-England inspired hotel features 14 comfortable rooms, a three AA rosette restaurant and a three-bedroom owner’s house, along with stunning landscaped gardens and ground of circa five acres that lead down to the private beach.

The property has been owned by Paul and Fiona Robinson for the past 22 years and came to the market as they are looking to retire.

Previous owners, Paul and Fiona Robinson said: “Whilst we have mixed emotions about leaving Driftwood, it has been an amazing journey and we would like to thank all our guests, many whom of have become friends over the years, for their support and of course, our wonderful staff.”

Stephen Champion, director of hotels South West at Christie & Co brokered the sale.

He said: “Driftwood Hotel’s iconic location on the stunning Roseland Peninsula and fantastic reputation helped generate significant interest in this genuinely unique opportunity.

“We are delighted to see the business sell to an operator who plans to put further investment into the site to enhance its current offering.”
