Property developer acquires key Wiltshire site
A property developer has acquired a key site in Swindon for an undisclosed amount.
The RO Group has completed the acquisition of Home Farm in Swindon.
Home Farm, which is located on a busy road junction on the A420 Swindon to Oxford road with 22,500 cars passing every day, is seen as an ideal location for the group to develop a strategic mixed use scheme. The location of the 9.7 acre site has potential for a number of different uses including roadside retail, industrial, logistics and storage.
RO Group is looking to develop a scheme that will be an attractive location for companies looking to establish or expand their operations in the region.
The blueprint for the development is its successful Solstice Park scheme in Amesbury, a well-established node for the country which was designed to accommodate a diverse range of businesses. The group has a history of development in Swindon having previously developed the RO24 industrial scheme at South Marston Park.
Nick Cashmore, Investment Director at RO, said: “We are delighted to have invested in Swindon, and we look forward to developing this site into a thriving mixed use scheme. We have diligently searched for sites in the South of England and are pleased to have now identified the perfect location for our next major development.
“The site is excellently placed on the A420 Swindon to Oxford road making it an ideal location for a variety of potential uses. The area is already a hive of activity. Neighbouring occupiers include major retailers such as Sainsbury’s and Dunelm as well the regional distribution hubs for Amazon and Iceland.
“We continue to seek new land opportunities similar to Home Farm with a focus on development sites with prominence and roadside visibility throughout the Midlands and South of England.”
Home Farm extends to approximately 9.7 acres (3.7 hectares) and forms part of the greater New Eastern Villages development plan consisting of around 8,000 new homes, new schools and community facilities.
The New Eastern Villages is set to be one of the largest greenfield developments in the UK.Its strategic location and transport links make it an attractive choice for businesses looking to establish themselves in the region.
RO Group was advised by Loveday, Savills and Osborne Clarke on the transaction.
