One of the UK’s leading water pump suppliers has completed the purchase of a specialist in wastewater pumping stations, in a deal advised by South West law firm Thrings.

Pump Supplies, one of the nation’s biggest providers of electric submersible water pumps, acquired the entire issued share capital of PDAS Holdings Ltd. with the deal supported by its parent Vestum AB, a company listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.

Founded in 1982, Pump Supplies has five depots across England, Wales and Ireland offering drainage, sewage and slurry pumps as well as an extensive range of accessories and pipe systems. The company has a longstanding relationship with Thrings, who previously advised on the sale of the company back in 2021.

The purchase of PDAS, which was founded in 2014 with headquarters in Surrey, has 63 employees and generated £15m in sales across the 2023/24 year, will complement Pump Supplies existing service offering. This will see the key player in the area of maintenance and monitoring of wastewater pumping stations incorporated into the organisation’s wider business practices.

Leading on all legal aspects of the acquisition, Thrings notably supported Pump Supplies on the negotiation of the share sale and purchase agreement, as well as due diligence and disclosure.

The Thrings team was led by Simon Hore, partner in the firm’s corporate team, with support from senior associate Joe Watkins, legal director Charlotte Barrett in relation to commercial property, and associates Carey Willis Fleming and Abi Sinden, who dealt with employment and with commercial and IPR matters respectively.

Hore said: “We are delighted to have supported Pump Supplies and Vestum throughout this process and want to congratulate them on a successful acquisition which will continue their ongoing plans for growth and help strengthen their position in the water segment. We wish them the very best for the future and look forward to seeing the group go from strength to strength.”
