Devon-based housebuilder Cavanna Homes has acquired a eight-acre site for development in Bickington, North Devon, with plans to begin construction later this year.

The new Bickington Park community will have 77 one-to-four-bedroom homes designed to meet the growing demand for housing in the region. The development will include 23 affordable houses.

Cavanna Homes’ director of land and design, Michael Newman, said: “The purchase of this site marks the final stage in what has been an exciting journey for Cavanna Homes which totalled more than three years and included achieving planning permission for the 77 new homes.

“We are looking forward to beginning construction on-site and bringing forward exceptional, energy-efficient homes for people looking to live in North Devon, close to schools, local amenities and of course outstanding coastline.”

All the properties will have air-source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points, with the majority also having solar PV. Larger plots have been designed to accommodate batteries that will store energy generated from solar PV, that can be used to power homes.

As part of the development, Section 106 community contributions will be allocated to support local GP surgeries, as well as for early years, primary and secondary education improvements.
