Surveying practice secures prestigious B Corp status

Surveying practice Trident Building Consultancy has joined the growing list of companies to secure the coveted B Corp certification.

The business, which has offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, and Liverpool, became a B Corp firm after scoring 101.1 points in the accreditation process, beating the median score for UK businesses of 50.9.

Trident Building Consultancy has become part of a community of more than 8,000 B Corp businesses globally and 1,700 businesses in the UK. Other big-named members include The Guardian, Innocent Drinks, Patagonia, Tony’s Chocolonely, The Big Issue, Finisterre, Elemis, and Sipsmith Gin.

The accreditation process assesses business performance based on five criteria – governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.

To pass, companies must provide evidence of responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency, as well as having their commitment to purpose legally embedded in their company articles.

In 2022, Trident Building Consultancy became an EOT which has enabled people within the business to shape its priorities.

“Becoming B Corp accredited seemed, therefore, to be the next logical step. We felt achieving this would by demonstrate well our commitment to the issues our people feel most strongly about”.
