easyJet announces expansion at Bristol Airport

easyJet has announced that it will launch two routes to Almeria and Palermo and base a 19th aircraft at Bristol next summer, supporting around 400 jobs.
A new year round service from Bristol to Almeria in Spain will launch on 24 June 2025 and operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while a new route to Sicily’s capital Palermo will launch on 26 June 2025 and fly twice weekly throughout summer on Thursdays and Sundays.
An additional Airbus A320 family aircraft will join easyJet’s Bristol fleet from June 2025, meaning the airline will now base 19 aircraft at Bristol, enabling easyJet to provide greater choice and connectivity for customers in the southwest. The growth of the fleet will also support the local economy, with each UK-based aircraft supporting around 400 direct and indirect jobs and £27m UK gross value added (GVA).
The new routes have also allowed tour operator easyJet holidays to bolster its package holiday offering, with customers able to book sunshine getaways to both Almeria and Palermo.
Ali Gayward, easyJet UK country manager, said: “Our success in Bristol is a testament to the continued popularity of our flights and holidays, with customers choosing us for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares.
“The growth of our fleet with an additional aircraft will not only support around 400 jobs but is enabling us to further unlock the opportunity of the continuing demand that we see for both leisure and business travel in the southwest.
“We’re already capturing this opportunity with the launch of new routes next summer, which will provide more customers with greater choice and connectivity, and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”
Rupert Lawrie, commercial director at Bristol Airport, said: “It’s great news that easyJet continues to invest in Bristol Airport and will be basing nineteen aircraft here. The new connection to Palermo and all-year route to Almeria adds even more choice for customers and opens opportunities for people from these countries to also visit the South West.
“We’re pleased that the new aircraft will be an Airbus A320neo. This underpins our commitment to local communities that we are actively encouraging airlines to base their newer, quieter and more fuel-efficient aircraft here at Bristol Airport.”
