Next wave of Homebases to relaunch as The Range by January’s end

Three Homebase stores in Leicester, Stroud and Blandford Forum are gearing up to relaunch as The Range Superstores by the end of January.

The latest announcement marks the next phase of CDS Superstores’ acquisition of Homebase.

CDS Superstores, owners of The Range and Wilko, acquired the Homebase brand name, intellectual property and up to 70 UK stores in November last year.

These locations will join six others across the UK – including Glasgow, Birmingham, and Bournemouth – in the rebrand.

The new stores will blend The Range’s product selection with Homebase’s home improvement know-how, including Garden Centres by Homebase.

With plans to open up to 10 new superstores each month in 2025, CDS says it wants to transform up to 70 former Homebase stores and create up to 1,600 jobs, while also ensuring staff from the acquired locations stay on board.

Alex Simpkin, CEO of CDS Superstores, trading as The Range, Wilko and Homebase said: “We’re fully committed to retaining the best of Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader product range and value that customers expect from us as The Range.

“While those Homebase stores acquired by CDS will continue to trade as they are during the transition period, we’re focused on ensuring a seamless transfer of these locations into our new store format, with nine launches now confirmed for this month already. We’re also eager to help consumers nationwide by investing in the Homebase brand with the relaunch of www.homebase.co.uk and expect to have this platform live to support families in all of their home improvement endeavours very soon.”
