Growth heats up for renewables firm following acquisition

One year after relocating to Exeter Science Park, renewable energy specialist Abode Heat is expanding, marking a “significant milestone” in its rapid growth.
Following a year of substantial progress – including its acquisition by UK Plumbing Supplies – Abode Heat has moved into a larger office space at the Science Park to accommodate its evolving business.
Abode Heat focuses on developing low-carbon heat pump solutions and initially moved to Exeter Science Park to leverage cutting-edge technology, including AI, to enhance its design and consultancy services. It has grown into a leading design and compliance consultancy, pioneering new approaches to support the heating industry’s transition to heat pump technology.
Ben Hodges, business development director at Abode Heat, said: “It’s been a really exciting 12 months. We are growing as a business, and with our parent company, we now have a national network of more than 300 outlets to expand our reach. We have set an ambitious strategy for growth over the next three years.
“Our move to larger offices means we will continue to invest in our technology platform to support the growth of the business.”
He added: “The offices here are great quality and the flexibility which has allowed us to grow at our own pace has benefited us enormously. I also think being based at Exeter Science Park bring benefits when you talk to investors, giving additional credibility to the business.”
Jason Buck, senior business development manager at Exeter Science Park, said: “At Exeter Science Park we work hard to enable our community of businesses to grow and develop. We know that business growth is never linear, and through offering flexibility in leases we are able to do that, ensuring there is the available space to meet the requirements of our businesses as the develop.”
Exeter Science Park employs around 700 people across various high-growth businesses and contributes £48.5m GVA to the regional economy annually. As well as high quality office and laboratory space, it has a public café and conference and meeting space.
It is the location of the new net zero voco Zeal Exeter Science Park Hotel which opened in February 2025.
