Consented co-living development in Bristol brought to market

Alder King has been instructed to market a new consented co-living development in Bristol’s Old Market.
The Old School Buildings on Redcross Street will be transformed into 76 studio apartments, each with private kitchenettes and en-suite bathrooms, supported by communal spaces.
The scheme includes co-working areas, lounges, a cinema room, gym, shared kitchens, and landscaped terraces. The design combines the character of a Victorian school with modern living and is expected to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC B ratings.
The scheme is located just a 15-minute walk from Temple Meads Station and close to the new University of Bristol Enterprise Campus.
Old Market’s shops, restaurants and nightlife are on the doorstep, with Cabot Circus and the wider city centre a two minute walk away.
Co-living has gained momentum in other major UK cities such as London, Manchester and Birmingham, offering a more affordable option for young professionals and key workers who need to live centrally but are increasingly priced out of homeownership and traditional rental options.
To date, Bristol has seen limited delivery of operational co-living schemes however, the co-living market is forecasted to expand significantly over the next five years, driven by a critical housing shortage and strong demand from young professionals seeking flexible, affordable city centre living.
“This is a rare chance to deliver a highly sustainable, design-led co-living scheme in a prime city centre location” said Hannah Eshelby, partner at Alder King. “It’s ideally placed to meet demand for flexible, sociable living for young professionals, students and key workers.”
Offers are invited for the freehold interest with the benefit of full planning permission. Viewings are by appointment through Alder King.
