Appeal lodged after council rejects plans for 24-hour gaming centre

An appeal has been lodged by Admiral Slots against a decision by Cheltenham Borough Council’s planning committee to reject its plans for an adult gambling centre in town.
Plans to convert the former ShoeZone site into premises for 24-hour gambling use at 218 High Street were refused by the council in May over concerns it “would cause harm to the retail function of the area and harm the vitality of the town centre.”
Eighty five objections were submitted from residents and businesses community organisations as well as local MP Alex Chalk.
Now, a planning appeal lodged by the applicant and owner Luxury Leisure.
Cheltenham Borough Council is accepting objections from the public until Friday 10th November 2023.
