Bristol’s £100m sewage plant expansion approved

Avonmouth Wastewater Recycling Centre

Additional storage and processing facilities are set to be constructed at Avonmouth Wastewater Recycling Centre.

The initial phases of the plan will involve groundwork for the upcoming infrastructure, including treatment tanks and pipework, which will be installed into the expanded site later on.

The expansion aims to break down and manage incoming sewage and to maintain the enhancement of treated wastewater quality before its release into the environment through the Severn Estuary.

Construction will commence in early 2024, with Wessex Water anticipating a five-year project completion timeline.
