Panel prepares for WMCCE Awards 2011 judging

THE search to find the region’s leading construction businesses is hotting up as the prestigious West Midlands Constructing Excellence Awards 2011 enters the judging phase.
This year’s panel includes TheBusinessDesk.com’s West Midlands editor Marc Reeves, Tony Wehby from the Chartered Institute of Building, Paul Brown of Birmingham City Council and Michael Thompson from event organisers the West Midlands Centre for Construction Excellence.
The highly coveted awards comprise 10 categories celebrating best practice in innovation; sustainability; collaboration; SMEs; health and safety; value; leadership in people development; achiever’s award; client of the year and project of the year.
WMCCE executive director Phil Wilson said: “The quality of submissions this year is again very high, demonstrating the innovation and best practice of firms operating across the region and the importance of these awards in the industry’s calendar.
“Winning one of these high-profile awards presents enormous opportunities for businesses by demonstrating that they are industry leaders, helping them to attract new clients, cement existing relationships and raise staff morale.”
The final shortlist of nominees is due to be announced on May 31 and the winners will be unveiled at Celebrating Construction 2011, at the ICC in Birmingham on July 1.
Scooping a regional award could also provide a platform to securing national acclaim as award winners in this region automatically qualify for entry into the National Constructing Excellence Awards.
This year’s event and ceremony are sponsored by Interserve/Bullock, Morgan Sindall, Rider Levett Bucknall, Seddon, Stepnell, University of Wolverhampton, Wates, Willmott Dixon, Hill International, Thomas Vale Construction, TheBusinessDesk.com and Camargue.
