New Stadco plant creates 50 jobs in Telford

AUTOMOTIVE panels supplier Stadco has expanded its operations in Shropshire with the opening of a new factory which is set to create 50 new jobs.

Stadco, the largest independent UK-based supplier of Body-in-White products and services, said the new plant in Telford stretched across 18 acres and was ideal for the company’s purposes because it offered scope for further expansion.

The factory was officially opened by Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard, who said: “I warmly welcome Stadco’s investment and expansion into Telford.

“The future for the automotive sector is looking increasingly positive for those automotive manufacturers who innovative, design, and produce high quality automotive parts and products. The technical and manufacturing skills cluster available in Telford also makes Stadco’s decision the right one.”

Professor Garel Rhys, one of the UK’s leading motor industry academics, was also present for the opening. He spoke about the important role the automotive sector plays in developing UK manufacturing skills.

On show at the opening was a display of vehicles for which Stadco supplies parts. These included the Jaguar XF, XJ and XK models plus JLR stablemates Land Rover Freelander, Land Rover Defender, Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Others included the Mini Hatch, Ford Focus, Ford C-MAX and Ford Transit.

Dermot Stone, Stadco managing director, said the opening event was an opportunity to celebrate a key milestone in the company’s development.
