Property in Brief: Wakemans on site at industrial development; Harris Lamb secures key ecology status; and more

Wakemans is on site with phase one of a speculative development of industrial/distribution space at the 35-acre St. Modwen Park Tamworth.

On behalf of St. Modwen, Wakemans is acting as employer’s agent, quantity surveyor and principal designer/health and safety advisor on the Staffordshire project.

Dean Watson, managing director at Wakemans, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting St. Modwen on this important new development at the heart of the Midlands motorway network, which will deliver premium warehouse and office accommodation to meet the needs of manufacturers as well as the country’s growing logistics industry.”

Contractor Bowmer + Kirkland is underway with the phase one build, which comprises distribution and office space totalling up to 89,375 sq. ft.

Three high specification units ranging in size from 12,375 sq. ft. to 49,000 sq. ft. will provide occupiers with first floor open plan offices with suspended ceilings and raised access floors, dedicated yards and parking plus round the clock access seven days a week.

Wakemans is currently out to tender on phase two of the Tamworth East development at St. Modwen Park Tamworth, which offers build to suit opportunities of up to 615,000 sq. ft. and will also involve highways works to provide a main access road.

Harris Lamb’s environmental team has achieved membership of the CIEEM, reflecting its role as an ecology consultancy in its own right.

The business launched its environmental division in February 2018, appointing Dr Holly Smith to oversee it and develop its offering. With the dedicated team now having grown to five and its client base continuing to grow, Harris Lamb has now achieved Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management Corporate membership status.

The team provides a range of services from pre-planning advice and surveys to environmental impact assessments to the business’ client portfolio, and is now set to further its skillset courtesy of registration with the organisation.

Smith said: “We are delighted with the way that Harris Lamb clients have embraced the environmental services we offer, and that it is having such an impact on the way they think about their projects. The property sector is changing – concerns about the environment are being highlighted more than ever before, with developers now being required to demonstrate the steps they have taken to protect and preserve the ecosystems they are working within, and therefore requiring expert assistance in doing so safely and legally.

“The CIEEM is a highly respected body providing insight and advice to governments on ecological and environmental management practice, and our being registered with the organisation has given us increased influence within our field, as well as access to further training to increase our technical expertise, which will in turn benefit each of the clients we work with on ecology and environmental projects.”
