Land earmarked for student scheme placed on market

A plot of land in Stoke which is ready for redevelopment into a student accommodation scheme has come to the market.

The 0.7-acre land parcel, located off Leek Road in Hanley, has already been granted outline planning consent for up to 119 student flats.

Harris Lamb is acting as the LPA receiver and the residential land team has been instructed to obtain offers on the land.

The team is now in talks with developers, having set a deadline of December 16 for bids on the site.

James Willcock, of the residential land team, said: “This is a great opportunity for student accommodation providers who specialise in the region. With the main campus of Staffordshire University a short distance away and a high demand for quality student accommodation in the area, this is a prime location for such a development.

“At present, the site is largely overgrown but once fully cleared, the proposed scheme will see two modern four-storey blocks built on the land. These will accommodate 119 student apartments with en-suite bathrooms and kitchenettes, along with communal areas being located on the ground floor.

“This is a great location to site the student scheme, not only because of its close proximity to the university itself, but because of its convenient access to Junction 15 of the M6. We are already in talks with interested parties eager to deliver the scheme, and we’ve set a deadline 0f 29 November for developers to submit strictly unconditional offers for the site,” he added.
