Sky Blues reach agreement with Frasers Group over stadium use

Coventry City Football Club has signed a new licence agreement with Frasers Group which will allow it to continue to play home games at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The news comes a little over a week after the Shirebrook-headquartered retail giant served the Sky Blues with an eviction notice and around a month after Frasers bought the stadium out of administration.
Frasers had claimed that the club’s previous licence to use the stadium was no longer valid as it had been agreed with the previous owners.
Last week, the company said it had issued a new licence “mirroring the terms of the agreement with the previous owners” but insisted the club had chosen not to sign it.
Now, however, the Sky Blues look set to play their home games at the CBS Arena for the foreseeable future after the club confirmed it had signed the new licence agreement.
In a statement, Coventry City FC said: “This represents a positive step forward for the Club and its fans and we now look forward to establishing a constructive working relationship with Frasers Group.
“The licence that we have today signed will run until May 2023 and is subject to EFL approval, which we expect to be granted on Tuesday.
“Coventry City will now commence amicable talks with Frasers Group with a view to agreeing a longer-term licence for the Club to play at the Arena.”
Frasers’ acquisition of the CBS Arena was said to have secured some 1,000 jobs when it was revealed on November 17.
