ABB to open new Midlands distribution hub

POWER and automation technologies specialist ABB is opening a new distribution hub at Hams Hall National Distribution Park in north Warwickshire.

The company has signed a 10-year lease for the 28,000 sq ft ‘Hams 28’ unit at a rent of £140,000pa.

The high bay warehouse includes 2,796 sq ft of office accommodation, plus a 50m secure service yard to the rear and is due to be operational before the end of the year.

The 430-acre distribution park is part-owned by Warwick-based IM Properties and other tenants includes BMW, Sainsbury’s and DHL.

Jones Lang LaSalle and Colliers International acted on behalf of IM Properties and GVA acted on behalf of Zurich-based ABB.

IM investment manager John Hammond said: “ABB is a hugely impressive business of international repute and we are delighted that it will be continuing to grow its UK business from one of our developments.”

The company is in the process of relocating and closing its existing operation in Rugby.

Although no new jobs will be initially created at the Hams Hall operation, a company spokeswoman told TheBusinessDesk.com ABB might employ up to 15 new staff once it had bedded in.
