Development potential at former police HQ

THE former headquarters of a West Midlands police force are being put up for sale to be redeveloped as a residential estate.
Staffordshire Police moved into a new, purpose-built HQ in February last year, leaving vacant a 16-acre site south-east of Stafford town centre off the A34.
Stafford Borough Council has already granted outline planning permission to the site to be redeveloped for residential uses.
At present there is no guide price for the property which is being marketing by the Manchester office of Colliers International through an informal tender process.
Staffordshire Police first occupied the site in the 1950s as a driver training school before developing the HQ further from the 1960s onwards.
Last summer, Jones Lang LaSalle was appointed to sell 5,500 sq ft of other former Staffordshire Police offices near to the main HQ.
