Anglo Holt smashes 5,000 bedroom barrier

WEST Bromwich-based Anglo Holt Construction is celebrating smashing through the 5,000 bedroom barrier for hotel group Travelodge.
The firm’s partnership with Travelodge has seen it complete 53 hotels, with a further eight contracts currently in progress, worth a total of more than £192m.
The 61 UK Travelodge hotels, as far afield as Fort William in the north and Paignton in the south, include 5,317 bedrooms. The average contract length is 29 weeks, with an average value of £3m. Contracts worth a total of £31.4m now in progress include Eastleigh, Epsom, St Helen’s, Wincanton, Poole, Fort William and Woolwich and Vauxhall in London.
The largest individual contract was the building of the £7.5m, 201-bed Travelodge at Manchester Airport, closely followed by a 200-bed hotel at Birmingham International Airport.
Anglo Holt managing director Andy Elwell said: “To pass the 5,000-bed milestone is a major achievement for Anglo Holt and clearly demonstrates our ability to deliver hotels on time and on budget for Travelodge.”
Tony O’Brien, UK development director for Travelodge Hotels, said: “Anglo Holt has been instrumental in helping us grow at the pace we have. Sixty one hotels is an incredible achievement and the speed at which they work enables us to get our hotels open quickly and filled with our customers.”
Significant projects recently completed include Birmingham’s largest Travelodge, which is part of the £45 million mixed-use scheme in Upper Dean Street, a key regeneration area identified in Birmingham City Council’s Big City Plan.
